DETROIT — Buick is adding the IntelliLink infotainment system as a standard feature on its entire 2013 product line. The move puts Buick more closely in line with Lincoln, its chief domestic competitor, which offers standard Sync with MyLincoln Touch on vehicles including the 2013 Lincoln MKS and MKZ.
To make sure buyers understand how to use the Buick system, a call-in support team has been set up to provide individual guidance.
The system, which debuted on the 2012 Buick Verano, is designed to cut driver distraction.
The IntelliLink system is set up to be used with two hands on the wheel. The driver uses voice control commands to run the system, as Buick illustrated in its recent Verano luxury compact TV ad "Calling Audibles" with Peyton Manning," said Nick Richards, a Buick spokesman.
"In a luxury brand like Buick, this should be standard," Richards said.
IntelliLink features a 7- or 8-inch touchscreen and allows users to stream music from Pandora or Stitcher through a smartphones via USB or Bluetooth.
Other features include the ability to make and receive phone calls over the car speakers, listen to music and get traffic and weather updates via SiriusXM radio and import media from a USB thumb drive.
Richards said IntelliLink isn't a carrot to draw younger buyers into the luxury brand beloved by senior citizens for its quiet ride.
"Every demographic today has a smartphone and all consumers expect a lot of function out of it and IntelliLink provides this valuable service for them," he said.
IntelliLink debuted on the 2012 Verano and is currently available for the 2013 Buick Regal and the 2013 Buick Lacrosse.
New 2013 Buick models will begin arriving at dealerships later this year.
Inside Line says: It's a new era for Buick when its customers begin worrying about whether they can stream music via Pandora.

Old news but it was about time all Buick vehicles got this system. It was nice having it exclusive to the Verano but it sure did leave a lot of other Buick owners feeling left out, now...no more!
