    VERANO 3RD Brake Light

Sorry if this question has been asked already, but I've searched the forum and didn't see it anywhere.

Does anyone know how to replace the 3rd upper mounted brake light on the 2012 Verano? My 3rd brake light is currently flickering on on the left side all of the right side are solid. I was told by the dealer the replacement and labor will cost $300!!!

Hopefully this post can be revived...

I'm currently in the same boat with my 2012 Verano. Mine started out the same way. All but 4 bulbs on the right were flickering. That lasted for a couple months before the entire light quit working all together. Now it doesn't light up at all.

I'm curious if there's a way to use an aftermarket LED strip light and just wire the factory connector/plug.

I had this problem with a 2012 Verano, and I replaced it with a replacement brake light from eBay. The brake light cover can be pulled directly downward as it is just clipped together. Then, you would need to disconnect the brake light assembly with the connection (it's a bit tricky, but I watched a video of either Chevy Malibu or Chevy Cruze on YouTube to figure it out).

I wasn't able to get the assembly off (but you might be able to), so I just took off the led part and swap it that way.

It works perfectly now, other than the brake light cover doesn't look as flush as it once was...

It’s quite a pain but it’s not that bad. I actually added LED bulbs in mines. I got them from eBay for like $5.99 for 10 of them. There is a led strip kind but it would require cutting the wires off and installing the new one in.

I know this is an old post, but I just changed the light 3rd brake light. Its not too hard. First pull the light cover straight down. See the picture of the inside of the light cover, you'll note 4 clips. I just used my fingers to get under the cover to pull straight down. Once the cover is removed, unplug the connector. Then thee are two large Torx headed screws you'll need to remove. Once the screws are removed, the light kind of hangs there by two tabs on each side. Use a flat blade screw driver to press the tab toward the middle of the car. The light should come down. I used GM replacement part 25961508. While it is more expensive than the Dorman part. It was a direct fit.
