2014 Verano external AC loudness?

Greetings..... Just bought a used 2014 Verano with 8500 miles on it. Just got it home after picking it up yesterday so I haven't had much time in it, but noticed a really high pitched noise coming from what I think is the AC compressor. Almost like it was working really hard. Has anyone noticed this? Seems really loud, even for an AC unit. Of course, I am in FL and it is a 1000 degrees out so maybe it had to work extra hard? Don't want that thing burning out......

Need to take it in to the dealership because the gas gauge is broken. Sales person though the tank was empty, but it appears to be a faulty reading?
